Vanessa Hörster, born on May 22nd 1978 in Dorsten, Germany. When she was a child it was clear that she would become a singer. She sang current chart hits as well as composing her own songs. At the age of 10 she had her first gig. Soon after she formed a band named “Wheels” who performed covers of other peoples songs. Performing at parties in the Münsterland, the band sang hit songs by Mariah Carey and Alanis Morissette among others. In 1997 she recorded 4 covers together with Tanzorchester Klaus Hallen and they got released on various compilation CD’s. The covers are No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak”, Spice Girls “2 Become 1”, Evita’s (first sung by Julie Covington) “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina and Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart”.

At the end of 1997 she met up with the Dune producers after Oliver’s mother came in contact with Vanessa, who was working in a clothing shop at that time. Finally, after many auditions for the new lead singer of Dune it was decided that Vanessa would get this honour. In April 1998, the group debuted their new single “Keep The Secret”, the first with Vanessa on vocals. The song was leaned more towards trance than techno but was well received by the fans judging from its chart position of 36. However, the follow up single “Electric Heaven” didn’t achieve similar success, only reaching No. 54 in the charts. Dune decided to rethink their strategy and, as Vanessa didn’t fit in with their ideas, the individuals soon parted ways.

She toured in Germany with her band Wheels for several years.

After her Dune period, Vanessa has worked on several projects as a backing singer. Among these are Loona and DJ Sammy. In 2003 Vanessa lent her vocals on the track “Get:On” released by Moguai. Unfortunately this was not a succes. in April 2004 Vanessa & Kubo released a cover CD with 8 tracks. It was available for just € 8 euro and only to purchase at their concerts. In 2020 she leaned her voice on another track bij Moguai, “Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime”, a dance/house cover from British band The Korgis.

On this moment she has a coverband under the name Vanessa & Kubo together with gitarist Dirk Kubowicz. In 2021 they had their 20th anniversary together.
