September 2016 saw the return of DUNE, when Oliver revived the project to release the first new material in nearly 15 years. A 168bpm Hardcore Techno stormer, “Magic Carpet Ride” saw the rebirth of DUNE in a more hardcore style. However, fans needn’t have worried as the track still bore the hallmarks of a classic DUNE release, namely a catchy melody and pitched female vocals, provided this time by the British vocalist Kate Wild.

Did you know?

• “Magic Carpet Ride” was already written in 1999 and originally appeared online in demo form in 2000, credited to ‘djraw presents LeeLu’. However, it never saw an official release until 2016.


• A limited-edition run of 300 CDs and 100 12” vinyls were made available at the end of October 2016. Also, Amazon.com issued a limited edition, on-demand CD-R single of the ‘Potatoheadz Remix’.


• On January 27, 2017 a new remix of ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ appeared on a compilation album, “Blaikz – Best Of 2016 The Compilation”. Credited to ‘DUNE vs. Blaikz‘, this was originally submitted for the Magic Carpet Ride – Remix contest.
