In the Spring of 2000, DUNE announced the follow up single to 1999’s “Dark Side Of The Moon”, entitled “Heaven”, with a planned release date of late March. The single was sent to radio and a music video began rotation on the music channels. However, soon thereafter, the release was cancelled.
It later transpired that legal issues had arisen between DUNE and the music project ‘A7’, consisting of the producers from Avancada and Central Seven. DUNE had recorded a cover of A7’s song “Piece of Heaven”, changing the lyrics, and renaming it “Heaven”. However, A7 subsequently claimed that “Heaven” plagiarised their single “Piece of Heaven”, a claim ultimately upheld by the courts. DUNE incorrectly believed that they had permission to produce this cover, and despite trying to reach an agreement with the producers of A7, they were left with no choice but to cancel the release of “Heaven”.

Did you know?
- Heaven was originally set for a release date of March 27 in the year 2000, then postponed to April 10 in the hope to settle a deal with A7.
- The video for “Heaven” was filmed at the Ludwig Erhard Haus in Charlottenburg, Berlin. This building houses the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) and the Berlin Stock Exchange, and is commonly known as the ‘Armadillo’ (Gürteltier in German).
- From the 12” promo issued, we know that the maxi-single, alongside the ‘Radio Cut’, would likely have contained an extended version of “Heaven”, as well as the ‘Warp Drive Club Mix’ and ‘Solid Dance Mix’.
- The image used for the cover of the promo CD was taken inside Terminal 2 of Frankfurt airport. The Designer of this cover confirmed that the cover for the suposed upcoming single was not very different then the promo art.
